Workshop “Technologies for material recovery from landfills and mining residues”
Working Group 2.2Context
Landfills are considered today as technospheric material reservoirs containing significant amounts of base and critical metals and minerals, in some cases, in the order of magnitude of the geological ore reserves. The recovery of recyclables is today a major concern. The challenges and emergence of new technologies and practices in both waste disposal and recovery are important issues in this domain.
Workshop aim and scope
This workshop, which is part of the COST Action “Mining the European Anthroposphere (MINEA)”, will provide a comprehensive overview of innovative recovery and recycling technologies for materials in landfills and mining residues across Europe. It will also provide a unique opportunity to discuss and evaluate the current challenges and opportunities as well as future trends.
The workshop programme will include: keynote presentations, specialised sessions and oral presentations. Representative from universities, research centres, industrial organisations, public institutions and organisations, local governments and legislators are welcome to present papers at the workshop in order to share best practice recovery and recycling strategies and technologies related to landfills and mining residues.
